For those who want to immerse themselves a bit deeper, 6-week pottery classes come in both introductory and more advanced options. Whether your preference is Wheel or Handbuilding, Jo is here to help you unleash your creativity and craft something beautiful. Join us to explore the joys of pottery!

One-Time Handbuilding Classes

Prices vary from project to project.

Discover all the delightful fun of creating beautiful pottery with our engaging one-time handbuilding pottery classes. Perhaps you’re eager to craft your very own unique mug in our handbuilding class, where you can explore various slab techniques to make something truly special. At the end of your pottery class, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to choose your favorite glaze colors from a wonderful selection, and then rest easy knowing that Jo handles all the trimming, glazing, and firing for you. You can expect to be notified within 3 to 4 weeks once your lovely pieces are ready to be picked up and admired. Jo has meticulously designed these one-time pottery classes to provide personal attention and deliver an exceptional first-time experience for everyone involved. Jo will go out of her way to ensure that you feel comfortable and genuinely supported throughout the entire creative process. While the instruction is tailored specifically for adults, we happily welcome teens ages 13-17 to join in the fun if they are accompanied by an adult taking the same class. See photos below for current classes being offered, either private classes or classes at the Back Mountain Makery in Dallas, PA. Private classes in Jo’s home studio can be one on one or up to 3 people. If you would like to do a private class in your home, you will need a minimum of 6 people. Contact Jo for more info!

6-week Intro to Wheel Throwing Classes

Welcome to our Pottery Wheel Throwing Course, where we'll embark on a six-session journey filled with clay and creativity! This course is designed for anyone eager to dive into the wonderful world of pottery, whether you're a total newbie or just looking to brush up on your skills.

Since this class is located in Jo’s pottery studio, the classes can be scheduled around your schedule. You will have a warm and friendly environment to explore your creativity. Throughout the six weeks, you’ll enjoy personalized, one-on-one instruction tailored to your needs. We’ll cover essential techniques such as centering your clay, building your walls, and trimming your pieces to perfection. Plus, you’ll get hands-on experience with glazing techniques and an introduction to kiln loading, ensuring you leave the course with beautiful, finished pottery pieces of your own.
